DESCRIPTION

Anna, a small-town doctor, struggles to stay afloat amid the rise of violent extremism. When her queer brother Max arrives from the city unexpectedly, everything is thrown into turmoil when the true reason for his visit is uncovered and Anna is forced to choose between family and country.

SEEKING

ANNA- 40s, all ethnicities encouraged. Surgeon, single mother, and anti-fascist at heart. Fierce and reactive, a healer but ultimately torn between preserving her family and standing up for what she thinks is right. Sees the good as much as the bad. Trying to live up to her own standards.

PETER- 18, all ethnicities encouraged. Anna’s son. Anxious and optimistic, seeking community and a cause to fight for. Sees patriotism and love as two sides of the same coin. Candid and vulnerable with the people he loves, but not always easily trusting. Must be comfortable singing solo. (There is a moment of physical intimacy with Claudia)

CLAUDIA - 18, all ethnicities encouraged. Playful and dreamy, a believer in love and family, and building a better future for all. Seems to know what she wants, aims to protect her people, and encourages them to grow and prosper. Fascist supporter. (There is a moment of physical intimacy with Peter)

ROSEMARY - 60s/70s, all ethnicities encouraged. A frank and moderating force, an ally where she sees fit and challenger when necessary. Peter’s grandmother and Anna’s mother-in-law, she embraces both roles, attempting to hold her family together into the future.

The role of MAX has been cast.

All roles can be played by an actor of any race/ethnicity. This play is best served by as diverse a cast as possible. BIPOC Artists are highly encouraged to submit.

Rehearsals: Oct 10th - 29th (Weekday Evenings, Weekend Morning/Afternoons)

Tech Week: Nov 1 st - 5th , 6pm-11pm

Performances: Nov 6th - 22nd (Thursday - Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2:30pm. One Saturday Matinee (Nov 7th) at 2:30pm)

All rehearsals and performances will take place at the GREENHOUSE THEATER CENTER.
