ABOUT US
Mission and Vision
Ego Death Theatre Collective is an emerging theatrical ensemble deeply committed to honesty, community, and above all, playing boldly. We strive to present work that not only entertains but also challenges our audience and provokes difficult questions about the way we see and affect the world around us.
Our Name
We believe that one of Chicago Theatre’s most sacred traditions is striving for the death of one’s personal ego in service to the ensemble. Our name is a reminder of that value and a reference to one of the most essential stages of Joseph Campbell’s “Heroes Journey.”
Our Story
Founded in 2023, Ego Death Theatre Collective is a new, Chicago-based Theatre Company. In the Spring of 2024, we completed our Pilot Season with a series of four workshops of new plays by Chicago area playwrights. We are now producing fully staged works at Greenhouse Theater Center in Lincoln Park. Donate now to be a part of this exciting beginning!
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Statement
Ego Death Theatre Collective believes that theatre is for everyone. We are committed to creating an environment that welcomes and nurtures people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and economic circumstances onstage, behind-the-scenes, and in our audience.
